Introduction
Ecopsychology is the study the relationship between people and the natural world. Over the past two decades, ecopsychology based research has highlighted how people can benefit from engaging in green exercise and blue exercise which is physical activity in natural environments such as parks and lakes. Ecocoaching and Ecotherapy are applied fields of ecopsychology.
This workshop will include information about ecopsychology theory, research and practice and consider how a practitioner can apply it to their domain of practice such as coaching or counselling. Also it will look at tackling eco-anxiety which appears to be increasing due to the ecological concerns about the planet. A positive psychology and cognitive behavioural approach will be highlighted.
Subject to weather conditions, delegates will be expected to work in pairs or triads and experience a ‘walk and talk’ peer coaching session in the streets and/or gardens of Edinburgh nearby the training facilities. This will give delegates experience of coaching or counselling outside of the practice room or offices. Pre-workshop reading will be emailed as a PDF and/or links to online resources.
The workshop is recognised by the International Society for Coaching Psychology (ISCP) as providing CPD/CPE for its Members. This is an ISCP study event therefore members can obtain a reduced delegate rate. There are discounted rates for members of a number of other professional bodies too (see below).
